Screened Porches

An outdoor room you can use from March through October.

A screened porch turns bug season into porch season, and here that runs from March to October. It is framed on footings sized for the roof it carries, the floor is pitched so rain runs off, and PVC or treated lumber goes anywhere wood meets the ground or has to hold up to standing water.

  • New screened porch construction
  • Converting an open porch or deck to screened
  • Porch ceilings, floors and trim
  • Screen panel repair and replacement

Deck Construction & Repair

Built on footings and flashing that hold up in wet clay.

Most deck failures start where nobody looks: the ledger board against the house and the posts sitting in wet red clay. Every ledger is flashed before it is bolted on, posts sit on concrete footings instead of buried wood, and fasteners are coated or stainless, rated for treated lumber.

  • New wood and composite decks
  • Deck board and joist replacement
  • Deck stairs and railings
  • Ledger, footing and framing repair

Rotted Wood Replacement

Finding where the water gets in, not just where rot shows.

Rot on fascia, trim, window sills and corner boards almost always starts at end grain the caulk stopped protecting. The repair cuts back to solid wood, seals every cut end and replaces the piece with PVC or primed wood matched to the profile. Repair or replace? Read how we decide in our FAQ.

  • Fascia, soffit and rake board replacement
  • Window sills, door jambs and brick molding
  • Corner boards, band boards and frieze boards
  • PVC wraps for porch columns and posts

Siding & Railing

Fiber cement, vinyl and railings matched to your house.

We replace damaged siding sections or whole walls in fiber cement or vinyl, and install porch, deck and stair railings. Siding is lapped over flashing at every window, door and roof line, because that is where water gets behind it. Choosing a material? See how the two compare in our FAQ.

  • Fiber cement siding installation and repair
  • Vinyl siding replacement
  • HardieTrim and PVC exterior trim
  • Porch, deck and stair railings

Windows & Doors

Openings sealed tight enough to keep summer heat outside.

An old window or a drafty door is often the reason one room never cools down in July. Replacement windows and exterior doors go in with sill pans and flashing tape layered in the right order, so the opening sheds rain and holds the cool air your air conditioning is paying for.

  • Replacement window installation
  • Entry, patio and French doors
  • Storm doors and screen doors
  • Exterior casing and brick molding

Exterior Maintenance & Repair

Small repairs handled before they turn into large ones.

Most expensive exterior repairs start as a small one nobody got to: an open caulk joint, a loose board, a gutter spilling onto the trim. We walk the house, fix what is failing, and point out what will need attention next, so repairs happen on your schedule, not the weather’s.

  • Caulk and sealant replacement at trim joints
  • Loose or damaged board repair
  • Exterior door and window adjustment
  • Repairs before painting or listing a home

Why Exterior Wood Fails Faster in the Piedmont

Three local conditions that decide how exterior work has to be built.

Humidity and Heavy Rain

Summer humidity stays above 80 percent and the area gets close to 48 inches of rain a year. Wood that never fully dries rots from the inside out, which is why new wood is primed on all six sides and every cut end is sealed.

Wide Thermal Cycling

Temperatures here swing more than 70 degrees over a year, and that movement pulls caulk joints open within a few seasons. Flashing and overlaps do the work of shedding water, with caulk as the backup, not the plan.

Red Clay and Termites

Piedmont clay holds water against posts and foundations, and termite pressure is some of the heaviest in the eastern U.S. Wood stays off the soil, posts sit on footings, and PVC goes where trim meets the ground.
